Get an Accurate Fit for Your New Stair Treads and Risers

Installing or replacing stair treads can be challenging, especially in older homes where walls and stair openings aren’t perfectly square.

Step Doctor is an adjustable stair tread and riser fitting tool designed to help DIY homeowners and professional installers accurately transfer the dimensions and angles of each stair opening to new material.

Why Choose Step Doctor?

Accurate fitting: Capture the actual dimensions and angles of each stair opening.
Less wasted material: Reduce costly cutting mistakes and unnecessary trial and error.
Simple operation: Four adjustable arms and locking knobs hold the measurements securely.
Durable construction: Made from molded ABS plastic.
Versatile: Suitable for fitting new stair treads and risers in renovation and installation projects.

How It Works

Position Step Doctor on the prepared stair structure, adjust its arms to match the opening, and tighten the locking knobs. Transfer the captured dimensions and angles to your new tread or riser material, mark the cutting lines, and cut the material to fit.

Step Doctor includes illustrated instructions to help you get started.
